Project Monet Resources
This guide explains the subject in plain language. It does not promise a result for every account. Use the ideas with the account, audience, resources, and business goal in mind.
Decide who the Reel is for
Do not begin with the trend, camera, or edit. Begin with the person. What do they already know? What problem, desire, doubt, or curiosity would make them stop?
A broad topic may produce broad reach. That can be useful for some accounts. For most businesses, relevance matters more than reaching everyone.
The right viewer is more valuable than a random viewer.
Make the hook earn attention
The opening should help the intended viewer decide quickly. A hook can name a problem, make a useful promise, challenge a belief, show an outcome, or begin a story. It should match what the Reel actually delivers.
A misleading opening may increase early retention and damage trust. Packaging matters, but the content must pay off the package.
Retention comes from useful progression
Fast editing is not the same as good retention. The viewer stays when the next moment feels worth seeing.
- Remove slow context that the viewer does not need
- Give each sentence or shot a reason to remain
- Use specific examples instead of repeating the claim
- Create visual change when it supports understanding
- Move from problem to explanation to useful conclusion
- End when the point is complete
Choose a topic the account should own
A business needs enough topic consistency for people and Instagram to understand the page. Random trends can create isolated spikes while making the account harder to remember.
Build repeatable topic areas around customer questions, problems, buying decisions, expertise, proof, and useful points of view. Repeat the territory without repeating the same Reel.
Plan the profile visit
A Reel can work and the account can still fail. When someone visits, the profile image, name, bio, pinned posts, highlights, proof, and link should continue the same story.
If the Reel promises help with a problem but the profile looks unrelated, the visit is wasted. If the page is clear but gives no reason to follow, attention leaves.
The Reel earns the visit. The profile earns the next step.
Use a next action that fits
Do not force a sales action into every Reel. Match the request to the viewer’s level of trust and the content they just watched.
- Follow for a clear repeated benefit
- Save a useful process or checklist
- Share with a specific person
- Comment when a real conversation helps
- DM a useful word or question
- Visit a relevant page or booking path
Test ideas, not only edits
Testing can change the topic, audience angle, first line, structure, length, visual format, presenter, caption, cover, or call to action. Record what changed so the result teaches you something.
One post does not prove a format. Look for patterns across several useful tests and compare reach, retention, profile visits, follows, DMs, and business actions.
Know what not to post
Do not publish a trend simply because it is popular. Do not keep a topic because one wrong audience made it spike. Do not turn every idea into a Reel when a carousel, story, pinned post, or direct answer would work better.
A strategy creates choices. It also creates exclusions.
